Sweet Potato Chaat Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups boiled sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sunflower seeds
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons black raisins
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Juice of 1 lemon

For Garnish:

  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Sev (crispy chickpea flour noodles)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Sweet Potatoes:
    • Boil the sweet potatoes until they are tender but still firm. Peel and dice them into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Chop Vegetables:
    • Finely chop the onion and tomato.
    • Wash and chop the spinach.
  3. Toast Seeds:
    • In a dry pan, toast the sunflower seeds, flax seeds, and sesame seeds until they are lightly browned and fragrant. Stir frequently to prevent burning. Once done, set them aside.
  4. Assemble Chaat:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the boiled sweet potatoes, chopped onion, chopped tomato, and spinach.
    • Add the toasted sunflower seeds, flax seeds, and sesame seeds.
    • Toss in the black raisins.
  5. Seasoning:
    • Season the chaat with salt and black pepper according to your taste.
  6. Squeeze Lemon:
    • Squeeze the juice of one lemon over the chaat. Adjust the amount based on your preference for tanginess.
  7. Mix Well:
    • Gently toss all the ingredients together until well combined. Be careful not to mash the sweet potatoes.
  8. Garnish:
    • Garnish the sweet potato chaat with fresh coriander leaves and a handful of sev for added crunch.
  9. Serve:
    • Serve the sweet potato chaat immediately as a delicious and nutritious snack or side dish.
